Isaac Manuel Francisco Albéniz y Pascual was born in Spain on May 29th in 1860.
Albéniz first performed at the age of four! At seven years old, he passed the entrance exam for piano at the Conservatoire de Paris, but was not admitted because he was so young.
Initially playing salon music, he began to take composition seriously following the advice of teacher and composer Felip Pedrell, and wrote melodies based on Spanish folklore.
Though he wrote pieces for the piano, a number of Albéniz's compositions are more generally known as classical guitar pieces.
