PRIVACY POLICY

Giving members the ability to fully control the privacy of their content is a core objective of The Glass Files. Your personal information is your personal property, and The Glass Files is a steward of that information.

At The Glass Files, we have very strong reasons to believe that the ability to control one's privacy on the Internet is an increasingly important priority, the mismanagement of which can have catastrophic consequences.

As a result, we've dedicated as many resources as we could muster to ensure that you will always retain full control over who you share your content with.

If you share an item of yours with a group (such as a family you're a part of), that item will be viewable by all members of that family, until you un-share the item.

In addition, the family host (the person paying for the Family account) and family historians (members of the family who manage family items and family members) will have the ability to share that item with the Community (viewable by other members of The Glass Files), or with the World (viewable by the public Internet).

But in all cases, you will be notified that an item you shared with a group, has been shared to a wider audience, and you will always be able to remove an item from any group, if you decide you want to.

We want you to share your items with whoever you want, because that's the ideal method for weaving your personal and family stories into the fabric of History - but we also strongly believe that it should be your decision, not ours!

Now for the legalese:

theglassfiles.com collects user and customer information to guarantee a high quality user experience on our web and mobile apps. We respect your privacy and are committed to maintaining and using this information responsibly.

This Privacy policy addresses the use and disclosure of personal information we collect from you. By using our software products, and therefore providing your information to us, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy policy.

GENERAL BROWSING INFORMATION

The Glass Files gathers navigational information during each visitor's use of our web and mobile apps. In the process of gathering navigational information, non-personally identifiable information (i.e. domain type, browser version, service provider and IP address) may be collected.

The navigational information tells us about the use of our software by visitors, including the areas of our sites that are most visited or the time of a last visit to a page on our sites. It also tells us about the technical efficiencies of our software and services (for example, the time it takes a user to connect to our software).

Behavioral data collected through the use of cookies will never be shared with a third party.

Despite us implementing the above security measures in our software, you should be aware that because of its public nature, 100% security will be never possible on the Internet.
