This map tells a story that isn't intuitive if most of your exposure to banking and finance is local or regional.
In NYS and NYC, everyone knows Chase, Capital One, TD Bank, Wells Fargo, as well as investment banks like Goldman Sachs, but i had never heard the name of the majority of banks on this list.
This shows that even though finance feels heavily centralized in places like New York, London, Singapore and Dubai, in reality regional banks are the daily reality for the vast majority of Americans.
