Gestures can create action, volume, and rhythm when drawing
Art Team Project
Gestures
Drawing gestures can add more than just 'basic details' to an art piece. Gestures will create a more detailed and deeper understand of form and displays action in a character.
Gestures can help authors better understand and create life and movement in their art by focusing more on 'how' to pose a character rather than 'what' the pose is supposed to be. These gestures can also improve artists' creativity because of the freedom artists will have when drawing gestures and can boost their confidence while drawing by improving their observation skills and their ability to express details, as well as enhancing hand-eye coordination which creates smoother drawings.
Gestures can also create volume in art pieces by capturing movement and mass using curved and flowy lines to derive from plain straight lines, which are usually one-dimensional marks in artwork. More volume in artwork creates realism which can improve the quality of your drawings and add realism, emotion, and sometimes even a little bit of storytelling to a piece.
