My experience at MetaBronx, a start-up accelerator that offers different teams based off your interest.
I worked in the art team this summer and was able to learn new things while also improving my art skills.
Throughout these past few weeks, we’ve learned about gesture drawing which is a quick sketch that captures movement, and graffiti art, that is usually found on buildings. Adding our own style to our art, accepting critiques from our peers, working with people who share the same interest, while expressing ourselves through art.
An activity we did this summer was make our own logos that were meant to represent us, learn how to add our own style to graffiti instead of copying someone else’s art. All of these things have helped me become a better artist because I’ve learned new techniques while also improving at the things I already know.
I’ve learned that art doesn’t always have to be perfect. The more consistent you are, the more your skills will improve. Working at MetaBronx has helped me learn how to take criticism and apply it to my art.
Working with my team members has helped me become more comfortable with expressing my thoughts in group discussions by discussing our artwork together while giving and receiving feedback.
Overall, this work experience at MetaBronx helped me grow as an artist and a person. I enjoyed working with the art team this summer.
