Future of Work
My Working Experience
My name is Andrew Ureña, and I am 14 years old. This is my first year working, and on February 3, I was selected to work for SYEP. Over time, I got the hang of the program and learned more about its values.
This job has taught me how to be responsible and has introduced me to many things I didn’t know about before. During orientation, I learned how direct deposit works and how to clock in and out. I also learned about Hats & Ladders, which taught me how to save money and manage my account.
After orientation, I received an email telling me to come into the building for MetaBronx. When I arrived, I was interviewed by Tristan. He was very nice and asked questions that were easy for someone my age to answer. Later, Philip announced that we would be divided into teams, and I was selected to be part of the Finance team.
On the Finance Team, I met a woman named Sarah. She taught us about accounting and taxes, and she also told us about how she started The Glass Files. I learned a lot from her and got to understand more about how businesses work.
Overall, my experience at MetaBronx has been great. I learned new skills, met new people, and became more responsible. This experience has helped me understand what it is like to have a job and has given me knowledge that I can use in the future.
