Cuomo vs McConnell
Senator Mitch McConnell means that the states that are most affected by the pandemic should declare themselves bankrupt and also implying that the aid that the government wants to provide to the most affected states should be further evaluated to find out the real reason why they were doing it. The comment caused much controversy and it caught the attention of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo of New York, who from his point of view was the saddest and most silly comment. The point of it is he’s basically against the additional assistance that is being provided to the states most affected by the pandemic. In order to be thoroughly evaluated so that there is no possibility of rescuing state pensions by borrowing money from future generations. Most of hispanic people are getting infected by the Coronavirus pandemic and at the same time millions more Americans join the jobless rolls, what causes this affects more the economy because the government is forced to offer help to these people so that they can sustain themselves. Basically Cuomo wants to let McConnell know that even if all the states declare themselves in bankruptcy it will not solve anything because we’re talking about people dying and losing their jobs everyday. Trying to demonstrate that the United States isn’t ready to reopen the country.
In my point of view Cuomo is right, Why should states declare bankruptcy? just to be able to get rid of their financial responsibilities and not be forced to have to help Americans and Hispanics financially, which would be very cruel on the part of the government ... because if there is the possibility of being able to give economic assistance to the states that are seeing more affected by why stop doing it? It is true that the debt would be bigger every day, but this is a country which has thousands of connections to be able to restore the economy immediately. The whole country comes into operation again.
