Mother and Daughter

This is a large oil painting of my grandmother and her mother that was done most probably in Larchmont, NY circa 1931-2, where they lived at the time. For many years it hung in my great grandparents' living room in their duplex apartment in NYC. Since the late 1960s, it found its new home in my grandparents' Manhattan apartment on the Upper East Side. With my grandmother's recent passing, we don't know where this painting's future home will be. It's a testament to the fact that my grandmother's family was fortunate enough to have the means to commission such a substantial work of art during the heigh of the depression.
