The online shopping store SHEIN was founded in China in 2008 by Chris Xu. At first, the company only sold wedding dresses. It later expanded to womenswear in general, adopting the name "Sheinside". In 2015, the company changed its name again, saying it wanted one that would be easier to remember and search for online.
SHEIN has since doubled its turnover year after year. It already sells its clothes in 220 countries, and has become the fashion store of the Generation. Last May, Shein was the most downloaded shopping app in the United States.
