Peter the third was an emperor of Russia, who is famously known throughout history for getting overthrown by his own wife (Catherine The Great). It was not unpopular to dislike him as ruler of Russia during his time, considering the alliances he did during his reign . For example, he withdrew from the Seven Years' war and formed an alliance with Prussia to go to war with Denmark, which most of his subjects disliked him for. In doing so his wife planned to overthrow him, becoming the country’s longest ruling female leader. How did she do it? She won the militaries support and announced that she took over as empress, forcing Peter to sign abdication paperworks. As a result, she expanded Russian territory and improved the political and cultural life in Europe.
